Why a dedicated thyroid centre?
Thyroid symptoms are non-specific. Tiredness, hair loss, irregular periods, palpitations, low mood – all of these can come from the thyroid, but they need not. That is exactly why the road to a diagnosis often takes years: a blood test here, an ultrasound there, a discussion weeks later.
We have brought that road together. Consultation, blood sample and ultrasound all take place in a single appointment. And because we are a centre for women's health, we never look at the thyroid in isolation, but always in the context of your cycle, fertility, pregnancy and menopause.
The concerns we are here for
Hypothyroidism
Tiredness, feeling cold, weight gain, irregular periods.
Hashimoto
The most common cause of hypothyroidism in women.
Hyperthyroidism
Palpitations, restlessness, sweating, weight loss.
Nodules & goitre
Putting incidental findings into perspective.
Fertility
The target range before pregnancy.
Pregnancy
Changing requirements, closer monitoring.
Thyroid cancer
Diagnosis and structured follow-up care.
Weight & menopause
What is really down to the thyroid.
Diagnostics & Consultation
How laboratory, ultrasound and fine-needle aspiration work together.

One appointment instead of many trips
At your first appointment we take time for your history: which symptoms do you have, and since when? Is there thyroid disease in your family? Which medicines do you take? This is followed by the blood sample and the ultrasound.
As soon as the laboratory values are in, we go through the results with you – in plain language, with figures you can make sense of, and with a concrete next step.
What we have in-house
In-house laboratory
TSH, fT3, fT4, TPO and Tg antibodies, TRAb and thyroglobulin. Blood is taken directly at our practice, and the results are discussed without waiting on an external institute.
High-resolution ultrasound
Size, structure, blood flow, nodules and cervical lymph nodes – radiation-free, painless and repeatable as often as needed. Ultrasound is the most important imaging examination of the thyroid.
Fine-needle aspiration
If a nodule needs closer investigation, we use a very fine needle under ultrasound guidance to take cells for analysis. It takes a few minutes and usually needs no anaesthetic.
Close links to gynaecology
Fertility, pregnancy, menopause: if your thyroid is involved in any of these, the right specialists are in the same building.

Findings, what they mean, next step

We stay with you
A thyroid condition is rarely dealt with in a single appointment. After starting treatment we usually check your levels after six to eight weeks and adjust the dose until everything is right. After that, yearly check-ups are usually enough.
You will not receive a standard letter from us, but a concrete recommendation as to when the next appointment makes sense – and whom we will bring in if it goes beyond the thyroid.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral?
No. You can register with us directly. If you have been sent by your gynaecologist, GP or internist, please bring your existing results with you – it saves duplicate tests.
Do I need to fast for the blood test?
Fasting is not required for the thyroid values themselves. If other values such as blood sugar or blood lipids are to be measured at the same time, we will tell you when you book your appointment.
How quickly will I get my results?
The laboratory is in-house, so most thyroid values are available the same or the following day. Antibody tests can take a little longer. We discuss the results with you as soon as they are complete.
Do you also offer scintigraphy and radioiodine therapy?
These examinations and treatments are tied to a nuclear medicine facility. Where they make sense, we organise them with a specialised centre and take over the discussion of results and further care back at our practice.
